Sage 1.5 Released

Sage 1.5 has been released, bringing Firefox 22 compatibility as well as several new features and a number of bug fixes.

Due to an extremely long (2+ weeks, yikes!) review queue at addons.mozilla.org, automatic updates won’t be happening for some time. However, you can manually install Sage 1.5 by clicking here and get started now.

Sage 1.5 is only compatible with Firefox 22, so if you haven’t upgraded yet, you’ll need to install the latest Firefox release.

New Features and Enhancements

  • Background feed checking and new content notification
  • New feed parser
  • Turkish locale (thanks, Koray Löker!)

“Mark All as Read” doesn’t work anymore. I use FF 22 and Sage 1.5 on OS X 10.8.4.

  2. alex says:

1.5 beta and 1.5 official with firefox 22 seems not work, all my feed is always ” already read”
    1.4.15 work perfect

  3. lorenzolamas says:

  4. Paul says:

Is there any means to disable the background feed checking?

  5. Nick says:

Manual feed check button does not work. My environment is Firefox 22.0, Sage 1.5, Mac os X 10.7.5.

    • Are you seeing any errors in your Error Console when you click the ‘Check Feeds’ button?

Tools > Web Developer > Error Console

      • Nick says:

I use Japanese language environment. I translated Japanese message to English.

There are these error message when Firefox booted. There is No error messages when I click refresh button in Sage.
It’s same file name at snipped in both messages.

  6. Sager says:

    Hi,

thanks for the great feed reader.

Unfortunately, as of today, as I updated to FF22, Sage no longer works. Folders are displayed as normal bookmarks and cannot be opened/closed. Clicking on a feed has no effect …

  7. Jeroen says:

FF 22 W7 Mark all as read doesnt work + click on item in list does not go “un-bold” aka visited after 1 click; when page is loaded a second click will “un-bold”.
    btw thanks for sage

  8. Peter says:

I just want to leave a biiiig THANK YOU for this wonderful and marvellous feedreader! I’ve downgraded from ff22 to ff21 (portable!) because i use this reader intensely every day (since a few years) and need it without problems. It’s the best feedreader i’ve ever used. Don’t know what to do without it.

The only thing i really would appreciate is to have the abillity to make it transparent in the all in one sidebar. But that’s only a tiny tiny optical issue.

    Thank’s for your great work!

    with greetings from Germany
    Peter

    • Macin says:

Agreed. Sage saves me time and allow me to be more efficient. But there is 2 reasons that I haven’t switched completely yet:
      - No timeout when checking feeds,
      - Unread item counter,

I will be willing to do a donation when the 2 first ideas are implemented :)

Then 2 others ideas on my wishlist are:
      - Sage for Safari,
      - Display favicons,

    • Peter, thanks for the support! Have you tried using Sage 1.5 with Firefox 22?

Re: All in One Sidebar, sounds like an interesting idea. I suggest adding it here: https://getsatisfaction.com/sagerss

      • Peter says:

No, only 1.4.15 under ff22. Didn’t work so switched back to ff21. After reading here my understanding is that the 1.5 Version has some “malfunctions” under ff22. I’ll may wait with “upgrading” of both until these “problems” may be solved. Cause now it runs nearly perfect.

Sage and the AIOS are a really mindbugling team! After changing the ff Layout (glass my fox) i saw that Sage/AIOS didn’t change. But really… it’s only a tiny optical issue. My english isn’t so good so i have to request… did you mean i should take my wish (make Sage glassy in AIOS) to that position “https://getsatisfaction.com/sagerss” under “Share an idea” or “ask a question”?

I should have had to give my praise there too, that’s the right place.

        With greetings Peter

  9. uesr says:

It does not work “mark all as read”. Without Sage is useless.

  10. You might want to consider a secondary non-RSS-based venue for release announcements, such as a twitter account. Reason is that 1.5 is so broken that I’m not using RSS until it gets fixed. But if you only announce new versions via RSS, I’ll never find out.

  11. SlaveckM says:

after yesterday’s firefox update (22.0) under Ubuntu, Sage 1.4.15 stopped working. I found new 1.15 here and working fine now. Only not working option is mark all as (un)read Thanks.

  12. Dmitri Kozlovski says:

After installing 1.5.1 I can’t find Sage anywhere – using FF22 w/OSX 10.8.4. None of the specified access ways works – Sage just “disappeared”

  13. SS says:

I have the same issue. Both FF (22) and Sage (1.5.1) have been updated to latest versions. When I go to check feeds, nothing happens.
