Hey, thank you for the update. Will Sage be updated to work with Firefox 57? As it stands the compatibility checker says that it will not work as of that date, and well, I don’t know of any good sidebar based alternatives.

Thanks for this update, I LOVE this application.

I use Firefox just for Sage, Opera for the rest.

thanks for maintaning this addon all the years. One of the two I do not want to live without!
I also vote for a web extension since there is no good alternative out there.

    Thanks!

I can’t seem to get Sage to export my feeds as an OPML file. It says “export complete”, but no file is created. I’ve tried creating the file on both my desktop and in the Downloads folder. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for your work!
Forget about Firefox … They’ve messed with the search-plugins, sage and almost anything I need.

I’ve migrated to Palemoon for browsing.
    Best thing is: Sage works!

Will there be a version that runs with FF 57 and newer?

  28. Acid Reign says:

…..Sage really transformed my browsing habits, some 12 years ago. I’ve spent the past few months angrily clicking “NOOO!” on updating Firefox 56. It updated automatically on my laptop back in late October, and ruined Sage. I was NOT letting that happen on my desktop computer! Still, one can only run old versions of stuff, so long. It’s particularly dangerous to do so on a web browser.

…..Thanks so much to various folks on the web that recommended FeedBro (hate the name, the app has been decent!) as a replacement if your Firefox updated to version 57 or 58. It’s not Sage, nor as easy to operate. But you can get a similar look and functionality, with more options. Make SURE and back your Sage feeds up via the “export” function in the Sage tools. Later, you can easily import your feed list into FeedBro.

…..Feedbro basically works in a tab, rather than a sidebar. Getting used to that was probably the biggest deal. It also has smarter options on marking stuff as read. It also has about 6 different feed views you can toggle through, and you aren’t stuck with the powder blue frames from Sage. Cons? Pictures are sometimes HUGE and screen dominating, on some feeds. Also, some folks have complained that FeedBro loses their feeds. Hasn’t happened to me, yet, but as long as you keep your feed file backed up, that should only be a minor irritant.

…..Firefox 57 also broke most themes. I like dark, not blinding themes, and my favorite, Metal Lion Australis no longer worked. The standard “dark” theme built in works ok. I still hate the blocky square tabs, but the new firefox is faster. A combination of the new browser, and AdBlock works really well at blocking a lot of web annoyances.

  29. Acid Reign says:

…..I would definitely try a new version of Sage, if one were to be released. I’ve long considered it to be the most important extension on my browser, even more important than Adblock!
